Our God seeks a promise or wedding vow from each person living on earth. He sees our wedding vow as a righteous act of faith. Our Savior yearns to have a marriage relationship with us, which comes from our wedding vow of eternal trust in God.7”Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.) 9Then the angel said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’ “ And he added, “These are the true words of God.” 10At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (Rev. 19:7–10, NIV). Wedding Vows for HappinessThe saints in Heaven continue rejoicing and praising God. The word for rejoice (agalliao) means “to jump for joy with exceeding gladness.”[i] The word for glad (chairo) indicates “a person who’s cheerful, calmly happy, or well-off.”[ii] The verses indicate that the saints of God appear happy because … the wedding of the Lamb has come. The angel said … Blessed are those who are invited to the celebration in Heaven by their wedding vow with the Lamb. The word blessed indicates that someone’s “fortunate, well off, and happy.” The angel then affirms this by saying … These are the true words of God. Only Worship God John fell at the feet of the angel … to worship him. Perhaps the splendor of Heaven influenced John. The angels probably looked like shining stars and supernatural beings. The angel told John to worship God and testify for Jesus. The angel told John not to worship him, but to … Worship God. Christians should always point their worship toward God and not to men or women. We should not bow before and worship well-known men and women in the Christian Church. Leaders in the Church only have their position by the grace of God. He can raise them, and he can bring them down.... Wedding Vow to the Lamb makes us oneOur Father gives each of us the freedom to live any way we want. If lust, greed, and evil seem more important than serving our Savior, the Divine Judge lets us pursue it. Our Savior does not put a harness on us and then lead us around. He gives us gentle nudges and stronger taps with the Spirit of Love. Our Father wants us to reflect his glory during our stay here on the earth. He desires that each of us cherish the gift of life from our wedding vow. A person sentenced to die for a crime will treasure the last day of life more intensely than others will on that day. The small details of life count more than the large events. Christians often take the gift of life for granted. I am guilty of that. God reveals how priceless it is when we seek it. I often think of the Majesty of the Lord’s creation. Sometimes, we just need to stop and smell the roses of life. The prisoner scheduled to die would give all he has for a few more days of life in a cell. I often wonder, “Who am I? How could I be so lucky that God created this earth and put me on it? Then he sent his Son to die in exchange for our new life in him.” I say again, “How could I be so blessed?” As children of God, we should make a conscious effort to renew our wedding vow with Jesus Christ. I try to refresh my wedding vow, of faithfulness to God and doing his will, several times a year. Our Father smiles on his children when they do this.
